kerrang magazine front cover analysis

Kerrang! Magazine analysis.

Kerrang! Is mostly known for its bad attitude style, this comes straight across in the front cover the title font style is immense, daring and cracked so it gives a sense of mutinous behaviour and symbolises the music as being loud and chaotic.

First sight
Further more the main feature article is presented at the centre of the page and is most prominent this implies that the item is a must read as your eyes are drawn in to the direct gaze of the main frontal image which is associated with the extract.

Main image
The main image has a straight gaze and stance (mid shot and the angle is direct) this immediately pulls you in to the magazine.
On this particular magazine the singer has red dyed hair this may signify danger or passion towards the music that he performs along with a warning towards other bands that they are the best.

Main cover line
Similarly the main cover line is spread across the main image. ‘Danger Days: The Inside Story’ having alliteration here anchors the readers attention and makes them want to read more about the exclusive piece. The writing is also in white which contrasts to the red and because of the pure colour is resembles truth, maybe about the article making the observer to read on.

Secondary images
Are grouped together in a cluster at the bottom of the page this is seen as busy and makes you feel that it has significance it maybe even seen as a flash.

Slogan
Every good magazine has a slogan it makes the reader trust the mag and make them go back and buy it continuously. ‘The UK’s BIGGEST gig guide ever’ it not only meets the criteria of a slogan but, it also is memorable to the magazine and sets a standard for others to follow.

Flashes
In addition the flashes on this magazine are represented in explosion tabs with bright sickly yellow text which bring in a sense of curiosity as what might be on offer through out the magazine or by simply purchasing it.

Secondary information/other stories
As well as the main story/item there is diminutive snip-it of what also will be included throughout the magazine as it is smaller than the other text it does grab the attention of the reader straight away but is still visible with house style colours which are vibrant.

Bar code, Price and Issue
Are fairly visible and are situated at the bottom of the mag where it would be most likely for it to be
Barcode: are numerous vertical lines with array of widths, where each pattern is unique and can be identified by a laser scanner.
Price: A numerical value given to a product indicating the price, whether it is on offer or as standard.
Issue: Distribution of a product for the purpose of a sale, this particular magazine has two issue references one for the point of sale and the other for collector memorabilia.
